New Operator Brings Central Park Boathouse Back to Life
After months of being shuttered, the Central Park Boathouse is set to reopen later this year with a new operator. The Park Department announced its partnership with Legends Hospitality last winter, and the reopening will happen in phases.
The Boathouse Cafe will be the first to open its doors, welcoming guests from later this month with a new menu. Visitors will also be able to rent rowboats with the help of an online booking system.
The larger dining room and bar overlooking the lake will open later in the year, expected to welcome guests in August or September. The phased approach is intended to bring back union jobs while giving the new operator time to make proper interior, structural, and exterior renovations.
Speaking on behalf of Legends Hospitality, Stacey Escudero noted “the phased approach allows us to quickly restore a portion of the union jobs that were previously lost, while also taking the proper time to make the interior/structural/exterior renovations needed.”
